We are looking for a hands-on and solution-oriented Infrastructure & Operations Manager to lead IT infrastructure and operations across our European sites. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer with leadership skills, a solid understanding of infrastructure architecture, and the curiosity to explore new technologies such as AI.

What to expect:

  • Team & leadership
    • Lead and develop a small international team in Germany and Italy
    • Develop your team's skills and build shared knowledge across the infrastructure
  • External providers
    • Steer our providers for servers, connectivity, firewalls and security, from contracts and SLAs to service reviews
    • Act as escalation point for major incidents, with external support to scale up when needed
  • Architecture & operations
    • Own the European infrastructure architecture and stay hands-on in engineering
    • Take care of all sites, from legacy environments to site setups and closures
    • Shape IT policies and standards and keep us audit-ready
    • Lead regional infrastructure projects and manage the European infrastructure budget
  • AI
    • Explore with the IT team how AI and automation can support our operations, e.g. in monitoring or incident analysis. No AI specialist needed, we see this as a joint journey
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with Service Desk, Business Application Support, Dole global IT and our colleagues in Costa Rica

Required skills:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or comparable education
  • Several years of experience in IT infrastructure, including team lead or coordination responsibilities
  • Strong hands-on engineering skills and a solid understanding of infrastructure architecture; scripting and automation (e.g. PowerShell, IaC) is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge in at least four of these areas: networking, security, cloud & virtualization, Windows Server, databases (MS SQL, Oracle), Microsoft 365 / MDM
  • Proven experience in managing external IT providers, including contracts, SLAs and billing
  • Familiar with ITIL or similar frameworks
  • Strong communication and leadership skills in an international environment
  • Independent and structured working style with a strong sense of ownership
  • Calm under pressure, with experience in major incident management
  • Fluent English and German, Italian is a plus; willingness to travel within Europe
